JAKARTA, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has begun implementing a visa-free policy for Brazilian and Turkish nationals, effective on Thursday, as Brazil and Turkey have previously granted visa-free access to Indonesian citizens.
Under the policy, holders of passports from Brazil and Turkey can enter Indonesia without a visa for up to 30 days for purposes including tourism, business meetings, and medical treatment.
"The primary consideration for granting visa-free entry to Brazil and Turkey is reciprocity, as both countries already offer visa-free entry to Indonesian citizens," said the Acting Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, Yuldi Yusman, as cited by local media.
The visa-free access implementation, Yusman said, will be carried out selectively, ensuring that only those foreign visitors who give positive contributions to Indonesia will be given access.
"We continue to strengthen supervision of foreigners and continuously evaluate the implementation of visa-free access to ensure that it remains in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," he said. ■
