MEXICO CITY, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Wales captain Aaron Ramsey has joined Pumas UNAM on a free transfer after parting ways with Cardiff City, the Mexican top-flight club said on Thursday.
The 34-year-old agreed to a contract that runs until June next year after undergoing a medical at the club's Mexico City headquarters.
"I'm at a good point in my career to move forward. I know what the expectations are for this club and I'm here to do my part and help in any way I can," Ramsey said at his presentation.
Ramsey said he was looking forward to the challenge of helping end Pumas' 14-year title drought, while also staying sharp ahead of next year's FIFA World Cup, which Mexico will co-host with the United States and Canada.
"I have had a lot of experience in my career and that obviously puts me in a good position," the former Arsenal and Juventus player said.
"I want to contribute in my role and achieve the objectives we have set for this season. There are things to be excited about and I am looking forward to this challenge."
Ramsey said he had made an effort to learn about the Liga MX before his arrival in the Latin American country.
"This league is very technical, with great players and I've tried to get as much information as I could from certain people and the internet," he added.
Pumas' first match of the new Liga MX season will be a visit to Santos Laguna on July 12. ■
