PRAIA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Cape Verde on Tuesday opened its 2025/2026 cruise season with the arrival of the Scenic Eclipse at the new Mindelo terminal on Sao Vicente Island, the national port authority, ENAPOR, said.

More than 100 stopovers are scheduled across national ports during the season, which runs until June 2026, bringing tens of thousands of visitors, ENAPOR said.

The Mindelo terminal, inaugurated in June, is Cape Verde's first dedicated cruise facility. With a 400-meter-long and 20-meter-wide quay, it can accommodate larger ships and more frequent calls.

During the 2023/2024 season, Cape Verde's ports welcomed 220 ships and nearly 91,000 passengers, with Porto Grande in Mindelo recording the most stopovers, according to ENAPOR. ■
