MOSCOW, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov said on Tuesday that new car sales in the Russian market are expected to total 350,000 units in the fourth quarter of 2025, with full-year sales estimated to reach 1.3 million to 1.4 million units.

"Considering the recent dynamics of our auto market, we expect about 350,000 more new cars will be sold in the fourth quarter. In other words, the new automobiles market volume in all segments will be about 1.3-1.4 mln units as of 2025 year-end," the minister said.

It is roughly a quarter below last year's results, but it may surpass the 2023 figures when around 1.3 million vehicles were sold, he said.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that over 1 million units of motor vehicles across all categories, including passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses, were sold in Russia between January and September 2025. The market fell by 24.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

The minister also said that demand-stimulating measures for motor vehicles remain in place to support the market, with preferential auto loans and leasing as the primary tools. "For example, about 115,000 domestic cars were already sold over eight months with the use of these instruments," he added. ■
