ADDIS ABABA, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopian political parties that are negotiating on the country's anti-terrorism law on Thursday agreed to hear the ruling party's response to their proposal regarding the law.

The opposition political parties have tabled a proposal to amend the law, saying it is against the country's constitution and major international human right proclamations.

They have also demanded more clarity in the law's terms and requested explanation on the progress of the decisions to release some imprisoned politicians.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, together with leaders of the four member parties of the ruling Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), recently announced that the Ethiopian government will drop charges and free imprisoned politicians.

Desalegn, who stressed that the latest move would promote unity, reconciliation and dialogue among Ethiopians, also disclosed that the government will shut down a notorious detention center known as Maekelawi.
