LISBON, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Portuguese school teachers and principals on average earn more than other highly educated workers, a trend that runs counter to most members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), according to a report released on Tuesday.

According to the "Education at a Glance 2018" report of OECD, "unlike most OECD members, teachers in Portugal earn more than other higher education workers.

The data revealed showed that only teachers in Luxembourg receive more than the Portuguese when comparing their average income with the salaries of workers with similar higher education.

Luxembourg, Portugal and Greece are the three countries at the top of the OECD list, which places Germany and Finland in 4th and 5th place.

However, Portugal is the fourth OECD member with the lowest levels of schooling among young adults, only surpassed by Mexico, Turkey and Spain, according to the OECD report.

Three out of 10 Portuguese between the ages of 25 and 43 did not complete secondary education.
