ISLAMABAD, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani military said Tuesday that Indian air force violated the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kashmir region.

Pakistan military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor, chief of the army's Inter-Services Public Relations, said Pakistan Air Force "immediately scrambled and Indian aircraft went back."

The incident comes amid growing tensions between Pakistan and India following the Feb. 14 suicide attack on the Indian police in the Indian-controlled Kashmir that killed over 40 policemen.

The Pakistan military spokesman said the Indian aircraft "intruded" from Muzaffarabad sector. Muzaffarabad is located in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.

General Ghafoor said on Twitter that facing timely and effective responses from Pakistan Air Force, the Indian aircraft "released payload in haste while escaping which fell near Balakot."

He said there were no casualties or damage.
